The Reno New Year

This year we spent NYE in classy Reno with Mark and Suzanne. It was a fun-filled trip complete with ice skating, bowling, air hockey, movies, pizza, claw machines, chicken-in-a-pot games, (very successful) Pai Gow-ing, and more. We celebrated the new year with good food and wine, and a mellow champagne-and-ball-drop in the hotel casino before going to bed at 12:30. We’re old.

The Mendocino Trip

Amy and I took a belated anniversary trip to Mendocino over the weekend. We stayed at the Packard House (in the Pacific View room, if you must know). They give you the option of breakfast downstairs, or a basket delivered to your room with fruit, pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee, and tea. Being the antisocial sloths we are, we opted for the latter.

The Move-In

The last few days have been extremely tiring, but we’re finally moved in (now we just need a few months to put everything away where it belongs). The only tricky items were the king-size mattress (bent just enough to fit up and around the stairs) and the sleeper sofa (hoisted over the railing and lowered to the back patio). That’s why it pays to hire movers. Here are some pictures of our place the morning after we moved in. Molly is doing relatively well with the situation (she’s in some of the pictures, so you can see she’s alive and not hiding under the couch).

The Online Wedding Video

To take a break from all the house pictures, I’ve posted a Flash version of the DVD from our wedding, made using Adobe’s Encore CS3. Check it out here (or, if your computer is having trouble keeping up, I made a slightly less-taxing version available here).

The Painting Progress

Our house is a mess right now, as we’re in the process of painting the whole inside (well, to be precise, we’re having the house painted). You can see the green-ish color in the bedrooms (which should look good with the bamboo floors that will replace the carpet). And the beige-ish color downstairs is looking mighty nice too. The Kitchen Progress

In the last week, we’ve had a lot of work done on the kitchen in the new house. These pictures show the old tile, the demolition, and the current state with the granite in place. There’s still sanding and painting to be done, plus the installation of the new appliances, but we’ve come a long way in a short time.
