For a change, Molly was acting nuts. So I broke out the camera, turned it to video mode, and snapped a minute of madness.
The Uncle’s 70th Birthday
February 2 was Groundhog’s Day, James Joyce’s birthday — and oh yeah, Uncle Max’s 70th birthday. My dad and I took many pictures of the party, as well as a bunch of pictures from the rest of weekend. After a lot of Photoshop work (mostly removing red eye), the pictures are ready for public consumption.
The Pismo Beach Unwinding
After several days in LA for my uncle’s 70th birthday, we drove up 101 and stopped in Pismo Beach for a few days to recover from our vacation. It was quite relaxing, and a much more interesting drive than the boring old 5.
The Reno New Year
This year we spent NYE in classy Reno with Mark and Suzanne. It was a fun-filled trip complete with ice skating, bowling, air hockey, movies, pizza, claw machines, chicken-in-a-pot games, (very successful) Pai Gow-ing, and more. We celebrated the new year with good food and wine, and a mellow champagne-and-ball-drop in the hotel casino before going to bed at 12:30. We’re old.
The Mendocino Trip
Amy and I took a belated anniversary trip to Mendocino over the weekend. We stayed at the Packard House (in the Pacific View room, if you must know). They give you the option of breakfast downstairs, or a basket delivered to your room with fruit, pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee, and tea. Being the antisocial sloths we are, we opted for the latter.
The 18-Month-Old Nephew
We returned from our hectic trip to LA on Sunday, and Brandon has changed a lot in the six months since we’ve seen him. Here are the latest pictures of the smallest Seff in the west (I think Amy counts as number two).
The Move-In
The last few days have been extremely tiring, but we’re finally moved in (now we just need a few months to put everything away where it belongs). The only tricky items were the king-size mattress (bent just enough to fit up and around the stairs) and the sleeper sofa (hoisted over the railing and lowered to the back patio). That’s why it pays to hire movers. Here are some pictures of our place the morning after we moved in. Molly is doing relatively well with the situation (she’s in some of the pictures, so you can see she’s alive and not hiding under the couch).

The Painting Progress
Our house is a mess right now, as we’re in the process of painting the whole inside (well, to be precise, we’re having the house painted). You can see the green-ish color in the bedrooms (which should look good with the bamboo floors that will replace the carpet). And the beige-ish color downstairs is looking mighty nice too. The Kitchen Progress
In the last week, we’ve had a lot of work done on the kitchen in the new house. These pictures show the old tile, the demolition, and the current state with the granite in place. There’s still sanding and painting to be done, plus the installation of the new appliances, but we’ve come a long way in a short time.
