The Professional Wedding Pics

Less than three weeks after the wedding, we got to see our pro-shot pictures online. But even better, I now have hi-res digital versions (although not as hi-res as I’d expected) of all the pictures to play with. And I’ve decided to share more than 1,400 of them, broken up into 14 themed galleries. You can access them through a single photo page on my wedding Web site. And each photo has a link to the full-size image for anyone who wants to download a printable version.

The Honeymoon

A few days after the wedding (and a few hours after the last out-of-town guests went home), we left for our honeymoon on Maui sitting in some nice first-class seats on United flight 37. After a big winter storm the first day, the weather was just perfect, and although we enjoyed way too much eating, drinking, and being lazy, we did get in at least one walk a day to where the beach path ends at the Sheraton.

The Wedding

Well, we did it. We went and got ourselves hitched. Everything was perfect, starting with the weather on Saturday, and then the pictures, the ketubah signing, the ceremony, the rings, the first dance, the toasts, the food, the dancing, and everything else I’m forgetting. No pictures from the actual wedding yet, so here’s a shot of our suite and one of me and my nephew right before I started getting dressed.

The Pranzo Buffet and Hutch

The downside to getting so many lovely wedding presents is finding places to put them all. So, we decided we’d act like grown-ups and get ourselves a nice china cabinet to store everything (or at least, a lot of things). As you can see, Molly discovered the ‘catwalk’ right off, and we were able to start putting some glasses and dishes away. Expect it to fill up as we get (and unpack) more of our registry items.

The Tahoe Weekend

Back from Lake Tahoe after spending Labor Day weekend in the mountains (and, more than I would have liked, in the car). Saturday involved a 9-mile roundtrip hike starting at the Meeks Bay trailhead, veering onto the Tahoe-Yosemite trail, and passing through the Desolation Wilderness on the way to Lake Genevieve and Crag Lake at about 7,000 feet. Sunday was less strenuous, with several hours loafing on the beach at Lake Tahoe punctuated by a short tour of Meeks Bay under kayak power (well, upper-body power sitting on the kayak, to be more accurate). For those who doubt, the proof is in the pictures.

The LA Shower

Wedding showers are great—you tell people what you want and they buy it for you, even before you actually get married. And there’s even some kind of lunch involved…I don’t really know, since I just showed up at the end to watch Amy open (and help announce) the gifts. But we made a long weekend out of it with lots of family from all sides and food galore. The hardest part was getting all those fabulous items back to the Bay Area, but with the help of a few well-packed trunks, we did OK (now we just need to find a place to put everything in our place).

The 5-Month-Old Nephew

We just got back from LA, where I took advantage of the trip for Amy’s wedding shower (pictures from that to follow shortly) by taking many pictures of The Boy (aka Brandon). He’s five months+ now, and growing like a Miracle Gro-laced plant. Next time I see him, he’ll probably be taller than I am.

The 3-Month-Old Nephew

With no new photo galleries added to Brandon’s site recently, it was time to take a trip to SoCal and snap a few dozen pics myself. Seems that my nephew enjoys eating, crying, smiling, sleeping, looking around, grabbing things, and messing his diaper. I hear those are all pretty standard behaviors, but I’m sure he does all of them exceptionally well.

The MacBreak

A few weeks ago, Jason (Macworld EIC, that is) and I went on Leo Laporte’s MacBreak Web TV show to talk about Apple’s new MacBook laptop. The video, shot on a greenscreen and featuring a digitally-inserted background and table surface, is now available as a 97MB download.
